Projects:

Teacher's Assistant Career Training (TACT) was an 8 month program designed and delivered to 40 learners in 14 remote and isolated Nothern Ontario First Nation communities, in partnership with Confederation College. The purpose was to provide upgrading and relevant skills for community members who worked as Teacher's Assistants at the local school with children with disabilities.

Distance Essential Skills Training - supported by Ontario Native Literacy Coalition, this project developed and piloted an Essential Skills online module focusing on skills required by Heavy Equipment Operators.

The Kingfisher Lake and School of the Air Information Exchange Project - Provided the opportunity for children in Grades 3 and 4 in King Fisher Lake First Nation, Ontario to meet online and exchange information with childern living in the Australian outback from The School of Air.

Aboriginal Learners Living, Working and Learning at a Distance – In partnership with NALD, Contact North/Contact Nord, Musselwhite Mine, Shibogama First Nation Educational Council and Windigo First Nations Educational Council, SHLC provided learning opportunities for learners living in remote communities, as well as those working in a remote workplace environment without access to traditional upgrading services. This project was funded by the Government of Canada’s Office of Literacy and Essential Skills.
